I’m a city girl at heart that has fallen in love with running and the running community. I’ve grown up in the suburbs of Pittsburgh and I love everything about the steel city! Growing up, I was very involved with athletics and sports teams. I was even on the track team despite the fact that I couldn’t fathom running more than a mile straight (I specialized in jumping events and hurdles). It wasn’t until 2013 that I finally fell in love with running. You could say that I’ve been hooked ever since my first race!
Professionally, I am trained in the health sciences as a Nurse and formerly as an Athletic Trainer. In addition to my degrees, I am certified as a level 1 running coach through the RRCA (Road Runners of America Club) and I hold a Performance Enhancement Specialization Certification from the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM). My goal with my blog is to share my love of running along with fitness tips, race recaps, and motivation.
I have completed more than 50 races including: 1 50k, 4 full marathons, 20 half marathons and numerous shorter distance races. My favorite distances are 10 milers and half marathons.
One of our goals is to eventually race in every State. So far, we have made it to 10 States plus the District of Columbia (and a few race miles in Canada during the Detroit Free Press Half Marathon…If that counts?).
I love coaching and connecting with the running and fitness community. It is always wonderful to meet with a client and share in their excitement as they discuss their goals. Even more so, I love to track with them through their training to see them push themselves outside of their comfort zone and then to share in the race day highs and lows.
