Can you believe that January is almost over? I think that is just crazy! But then again, if you don’t take the time to stop, reflect, and keep up with your goals this is how you lose time. So each month this year, I am going to give a run down of what I’ve been able to accomplish towards the achievement of my 2018 goals.
Obtain a Personal Training Certification
As I was writing the goal down for 2018, I had envisioned that this would take place in the second half of the year. I had other things in the first six months that I thought were bigger priorities. Then, NASM had a sale and suddenly I thought there is no time like right now. My book arrived a few weeks ago and I’ve made it through a number of chapters. I have 6 months to study and sit for he exam so I need to schedule it by June. I’m sure that I’ll give a few updates so stay tuned!
Since I am now studying for this test, I am going to put the launch of my course on the back burner for now. It will give me a little extra time to mull over the content and make some additional decisions on formatting. I hope that this will not affect my blogging schedule. I have all of my running related posts planned out through May, so I am going to maintain my Thursday posting schedule. I may cut back on my Tuesday posts to twice a month to accommodate this change in priorities.
Running, Strength Training and Cross Training
I have allowed my work schedule and the weather to still be a factor with my running and training. I’ve managed working out a few times each week but I’m not as consistent as I would like to be yet. With the official kick off of half marathon training for Glass City and Pittsburgh, I see a better schedule in my future. Each week, I’ll be running my long runs with the Steel City Road Runners. I have saved a few workouts on youtube that I am already working through. I think that February will be my month to come back and get settled in.
This month I am down 4 pounds. Hallelujah! The scale has budged. We are planning out all of our meals and minimizing eating at restaurants. We’re cutting down on our food budget as a means to achieve our financial goals but it is really help me to focus on better food choices. I’m cutting down on the amount of meat that I’m eating and swapping that for an increase in veggies. I’m going to see how a more plant based diet settles and impacts my training.
We’ve been cleaning and decluttering! We’ve already taken items out for donation and will continue with this through out the next few weeks. I have a nice and neat office space set up to do my work in. Hubs set up a budget for us to get us on track with out financial goals. Currently we have money set aside for our taxes (since we always seem to owe money). What is left over from that amount will be put towards credit card debt and our car loan.
- Get through at least two more sections of the CPT book and decide when to schedule my test.
- Commit to consistency with my training schedule
- Continue with good nutrition habits
- Stick to our budget
- Start a meditation practice
How did you do with your goals in January?
